bush hid the facts
An interesting email about notepad is making it's way around cyberspace lately. Try this out:
1 - open notepad
2 - type in "bush hid the facts" (all lower case, no quotes)
3 - save the file to whatever name and location you want
4 - close notepad
5 - now open the file you saved in step 3 (you can double click the file or use notepad's file->open menu item)
The result? A bunch of squares like the following - is it a software easter egg or simply a bug?

After the boxes appear in the text file (close, then reopen), copy the boxes and paste them into a Word document. I got nine Chinese characters with the font listed as Arial Unicode MS. I copied the characters into the Google Translate tool, selected Chinese to English BETA, and clicked Translate. The result is "Albert Ben Italian Mount got Tou reflect mongoose seized". I have no idea what it means, but I'm sure it's sinister. Maybe...
Nice find! I tried it, and apparently the reason why you see squares is that you haven't installed compatibility with asian languages on your instance of Windows :D.
If you did, you'd see some japanese characters. These: "畢桳栠摩琠敨映捡獴" (without the quotes), you might still not be able to see them, in that case I might be able to provide you with a screenshot. Anyway, I tried to translate the text (using good old Babelfish), and I just got some untranslated kanjis plus the word "Projection" and some questionmarks.
Cheers mate!
i just tried it and got squares as well.
..why would you need asian language if you saved the file in english..
